Here's a tidbit from an antique etiquette book. This is still great advice 135 years later.
Why? Because it's better, even in a business letter, to add the personal touch at the beginning than at the end.
"Above all, never send an inquiry or compliment in a postscript. Nobody likes to see their name mentioned as an afterthought."
The Ladies' Book of Etiquette, and Manual of Politeness
Florence Hartley, 1873
